It never really occured to me how creepy my childhood was until I started rewatching some of the movies I use to enjoy. I watched movies like wee sing, a frightening singalong, pollyanna, labrynth, various jim henson things, teenage mutant turtles, and return to oz. Now jim henson was always great but I also watched his rabbits pinic movie, man that is a world of pain.
I bring this up because I had the scariest urges today. After work I made a 3-ham omlet, thank you brak and I watched one of the cartoon teenage mutant turtle series tapes I found downstairs. You know you're in for a treat when your preview(s) consist of an old burger king kids club commerial.
Then, to make my wounds bleed I sat down with a bag of popcorn in one hand and a mike's hard lemonade in the other while sitting through the orginal teenage mutant turtle movie. It reeked so much of the 80's that I gaged. Slightly buzzed I observed 4 retarded, 15yr, or so they say, turtles that have the voices of 4 homeless surfers. Oh not to mention gay turtles. Their very touchy, huggy and emtional like your average 14yr girl.
Althought it was sort of amusing how the music was done by our friend the keyboard. Also I noted that during the opening the music sounded slightly like a remix of the ghostbusters theme. Man I should find the soundtrack. It has the unforgetable Mr. MC Hammer on it.
hmm... fun fun, during the end of the movie you see a garbage truck pull up and then in the next scene it's empty. You never see the man leave he's just fled the garbage truck because he needed to go potty. The ending song was this terrible rap that tells the plot all over again. . .that sounds familar of course looking at Shredder, he was probably the basis of main character in robot ninja. Scary. . . Damn I knew that voice was familar, the person who did shredder's voice was uncle phil on the prince of bel air. I love the stero-typical japanese engrish they had for the splinter. "I made a funny"
I have no idea why I'm going through this turtle funk. Tomorrow I'll try looking for the other 3? Thank you america for making head bashy goodness.
